Radio Cracker 1991-2

Way back in the early 1990's Northchurch Baptist Church, along with other Berkhamsted churches, took part in a unique country-wide initiative. The plan was to run a network of charity radio stations, all called Radio Cracker, for the 4 week leading up to Christmas. The purpose was to raise both money and awareness for Third World.

Throughout the Decembers of 1991 & 92 Radio Cracker Berkhamsted transmitted to the local area from a studio built in a disused hall at Ashlyns School.

In 1991 Radio Cracker transmitted on 100.7FM and in 1992 transmitted on 87.7FM

Whilst memories of Radio Cracker Berkhamsted may be fading some of the recordings of the programmes haven't. The original recordings of the programmes have mostly disappeared, however, some do remain, along with some edited highlights of Radio Cracker's output. Most of the recordings available have not been heard since they were originally broadcast.
