Mission - Andrew & Susie

Andrew and Susie work with Serving In Mission (SIM) and live and work in West Africa.

SIM’s mission is to partner local churches in:
  • ministering to human need
  • being a witness to the unreached
  • discipling believers into churches.

Andrew and Susie minister in their professional capacity in an Adult Education Project which seeks to minister to specific local needs.

Many locals miss out on local education for different reasons; e.g. forced displacement due to the ongoing conflicts in the region, migration because of drought or an inability to speak the national language.

The school teaches basic literacy and numeracy skills. This gives adult students the chance to re-enter mainstream education.

Health programmes help women to understand health issues relating to water & disease. They are also made aware of ways to treat diseases with medicines they can make from local plants.

Teacher training programmes seek to enhance the quality of teaching that is delivered in schools and colleges.

A small but growing library seeks to provide text books which students would otherwise not have access to. It’s very well used and is one of the most exciting ventures in the School.
We hope to expand it soon with other educational materials such as DVDs on the natural and historical world, newspapers etc.

In their private lives, in the community where they live, Andrew and Susie have opportunity to both disciple local believers, as well as being a daily demonstration of people who live their faith.

Susie was brought up in NBC and was a member for many years until she moved away from Berkhamsted. She and Andrew have maintained close links with Northchurch Baptist Church and we continue to pray for them in their mission and contribute towards their financial needs when we are able.

Pray for them as they work in their professional capacity:
  • That they would excel in their developing educational initiatives.
  • That they would demonstrate Christ-likeness in the way they treat employees, students and each other.
  • Pray for them in their private lives as they live in the community:
  • That they would demonstrate a life in where what they believe about God directly impacts the way they live, their integrity and the way they treat people.
  • That they would be able to challenge people to live in keeping with true submission to God.
