Mission - Falconer Home |
|
The Falconer
home was founded in 1947 by Lilias Falconer.
![]() Called at an early age to ‘look after babies and children’ in Africa she trained as nurse and commenced her career in a leper hospital in Chitokoloki Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia) in 1946. There she saw the plight of little babies left to die when their mothers died in childbirth. After agreeing to care for one such child, five more were quickly brought to her and with her six babies Lilias left Chitokoloki and on her own went further into the bush where she established her Children’s Home and Orphanage in the small village of Kabulamema. She only returned to the UK once in the rest of her life and died in June 1998. ![]() Over the years the Falconer home has saved the lives of over 600 children. Currently there are over 100 children who are cared for by a staff of 25.
NBC Involvement NBC was first introduced to the home by two former members who had a knowledge of Miss Falconer’s Home from their previous church. Regular financial and prayer support has been given to the home for many years. Donations of clothes, knitted/quilted articles and other items are posted off several times a year in massive parcels by Vina Reid. Many times these parcels have proved to be answers to prayer! NBC recently provided funding to help the home grow and also to construct an airstrip for the use of the Home and local community. For the last three years we have had members of the church go out to the home to help on short term visits.
Points for prayer Simon and Miriam and all the staff, for God’s strength as they care for so many in need. The
children who need to know God’s love in their lives. For the farmland to produce good crops for the home. |
