CAP Debt Help

NBC working with CAP

We are now working with Christians Against Poverty (CAP) and with the CAP Debt Centre at the Liberty Tea Rooms in Hemel Hempstead to offer practical and holistic support to people who are struggling with debt.

CAP is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and provides this FREE and award winning service, in partnership with local churches such as ours. Clients are visited by a debt coach and a befriender for three meetings, to explain the service, gather information about the individual's finances and to present back a budget and a recommended route out of debt. The client is then supported by a team of debt advisers from CAP's head office in Bradford until such time as the client goes debt free.

This is what one of our debt clients recently had to say about the support they received from NBC's CAP debt coach:

"You were an absolute blessing yesterday, thank you so much for calming me down and being on the other end of the phone. Thank you also for this message - I appreciate all the advice I can get. I am looking forward to Friday, to making some sense of my financial chaos with your help. Thank you again".

If you are struggling with debt then please call CAP on 0800 328 0006 and their New Enquiries Team will assess whether we can help you and will schedule you in for a visit from one of our local debt coaches. More information about the free service can be found at www.capdebthelp.org.

As well as providing a debt service we also run CAP's Money Course, a free course to help you manage your personal finances better. The course usually runs across three weekday evenings, at Northchurch Baptist Church, or at other locations in Berkhamsted including the Open Door community space on the High Street.

Whether you believe you are managing your finances well or not, this course has something for everyone, and has been developed and refined by CAP over a period of years. To find out about upcoming courses and to book a place, visit www.capmoney.org.
