Day of Prayer and Fasting

On the 1st day of each month, we encourage the whole church to join in a day of
prayer and fasting.

Prayer and fasting is a sign of our desire and hunger to seek God. Through prayer and fasting, we develop a passion for God that supersedes everything else. When this happens, the Holy Spirit begins to flow into us, allowing us to live above our circumstances and low self expectations.

To help plan our day of prayer, we use a 24-7 prayer room and publish notes to help you pray for the hour you choose. You can book an hour prayer slot through the newsletter link the week before or by clicking on the button below. To book and hour slot during our day of prayer and fasting, please click on the button below.

and experience of the Holy Spirit, starting April 5th.

Here are 50 Things regarding the Holy Spirit

In Lent we give things up in order to be ready for Easter. We however, having been saved From Sin and Death, are saved TO be filled with the Spirit of Christ (Holy Spirit, Holy Ghost), and so we will celebrate PENT (not lent), to prepare us to increase our capacity to receive the most that God has for us. God is not backward in offering us his presence and Spirit, but we are backward in preparing him a dwelling place. There are Five things which hinder our being filled.

1.      A refusal to make Jesus Christ Lord of our lives and live it out.

2.      Unconfessed, ongoing sinful behaviour.

3.      Deliberate and ongoing unforgiveness.

4.      Occult activity past and present.

5.      A refusal to receive the Holy Spirit into our lives and be filled.

We must pray that he will reveal our situation, in order to turn from any of the above and receive his good gift.

The Holy Spirit unites us to Jesus Christ and to His body. He reveals Christ to us, gives us His life, and makes Christ alive in us.

The Spirit takes the experiences of Jesus—His incarnation, ministry, crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension—and brings them into our own experience. Because of the Holy Spirit, the history of Jesus Christ becomes our story and experience.

The Holy Spirit grants what Christ bestows. He makes real and experiential the work of Jesus. Therefore, we cannot separate what Christ does from what the Spirit does.

Read the passage (opening your bible to the passage will deepen your relationship with God through the scripture). And then pray and ask God to show you its relevance for you today. Ask someone what it means if you need to, seek understanding, revelation and God’s power and presence as you read. Read it several times during the day if you are able.

  • 6th - The Spirit guides us into all truth (John 16:13).

  • 7th - The Spirit regenerates us (John 3:5-8; Titus 3:5).

  • 8th - The Spirit glorifies and testifies of Christ (John 15:26; 16:14).

  • 9th - The Spirit reveals Christ to us and in us (John 16:14-15).

  • 10th - The Spirit leads us (Matt. 4:1; Luke 4:1; Rom. 8:14; Gal. 5:18).

  • 15th - The Spirit “bears witness” in us “that we are children of God” (Rom. 8:16 NKJV).

  • 16th - The Spirit produces in us the fruit or evidence of His work and presence
    (Gal. 5:22–23).

The Spirit is the life that unites Father and Son, and He plays this role in the church. When the Spirit is operating in a group of people, He unites them in love. Therefore, a sure evidence of the Holy Spirit working in a group is love and unity - not signs and wonders (those are seasonal and can be counterfeited).

  • 28th - The Spirit speaks to, in, and through us (Matt. 10:20; Acts 2:4; 8:29; 10:19; 11:12, 28; 13:2; 16:6, 7; 21:4, 11; 1 Cor. 12:3; 1 Tim. 4:1; Heb. 3:7; Rev. 2:11).

  • 29th - The Spirit is the agent by which we are baptized into the body of Christ
    (1 Cor. 12:13).

  • 30th - The Spirit makes some overseers in the church, and through the body He sends some out to do the work of church planting (Acts 20:28; 13:2; 1 Cor. 1:17;

Prayer

Prayer is an opportunity to spend time with God. To really understand the heart of God, you need to pray. In John 15:15, Jesus says He no longer calls us his servants, but calls us His friends. Talking with God develops a deeper relationship with Him. During lock down this day has become an entire day of prayer with someone praying every hour.

Prayer is one of the most powerful weapons God has given us. We turn to prayer because it is the most personal way to experience God, to encounter Him and to grow in knowledge of Him. We encourage everyone to make prayer a part of your daily life.

Fasting

Fasting is an essential part of this special day.

Fasting is a deliberate abstinence from physical gratification, usually going without food for a period of time in order to achieve a greater spiritual goal. Fasting is intentionally denying the flesh in order to gain a response from the spirit; it means renouncing the natural in order to invoke the supernatural.

We urge everyone to fast for the day and put aside the time saved for God. You don’t have to fast from food, you can fast from TV or Netflix, social media or even your phone.

All we ask is that the time you would normally spend doing this activity is actually spent seeking God, listening for His voice and giving Him your undivided attention regularly throughout the course of the day.
